Went recently with my husband to help friends of ours paint their beach house. The house was purchased in the 70's by the family but the mayor of the town that stopped by mentioned he used to see friends at the house in the 50s.

It is currently the only house remaining on the block. The beach was beautiful, as always, but a lot of plastic was washing on shore. We took plastic bags to the beach at night and cleaned up as much trash as we could.

Mexico Beach gets a lot of trash from rivers feeding into it so a lot of debris on the beach isnt necessarily still from the hurricane.

We had a couple of people come thank us for cleaning. If you go, please dont just gawk at the storm damage. Stop at the public beach access with a garbage bag and help clean the beach. The town wont stand for it. This town is old Florida, small and everyone you will meet is awesome. If you visit, please help by picking up trash on their beaches to help leave it beautiful for future visits! Terry B Stockton, IL contributions. We stayed in MB for several years before Michael. This year we're staying nearby and going there for Killer Seafood, Mango Marleys and other food trucks.

Spending a little money there. Since we now have a dog, we won't be on the beaches there, but just east in Gulf county you can. Love the area, come support it.

This is a beautiful beach that has been built back from a hurricane with dunes planted with beach grass. I will return. AD F St. George Island, FL 57 contributions. This beach should not be listed the whole area has been destroyed by Hurricane Michael. Only about residences have electricity. Visitors are doing more harm than good by getting in the way. Closed off for tourists after the hurricane This area was hit by the hurricane and while some surrounding towns are open for tourists, Mexico Beach is closed off.

There are check points in the highways and the law enforcement agency only allow local residents to get in. As far as I could see, there is some very significant damage, I really feel sorry for the residents. Shadabrata 6 contributions.
