The WiFi Adapter is a Broadcom chip, which could be part of the problem, as I've already upgraded other ProBooks b without any problems. My b came with a bunch of preinstalled HP software including the connection manager , which had to be uninstalled prior to the upgrade. Both wireless and Bluetooth, which doesn't work either are only used occasionally and were turned off during upgrade. I suspect, these two things are causing the problem, but I'd have to roll back to Windows 7 to verify it, and who know's which sort of other problems that might cause.
Unfortunately, I haven't found the solution, so I've ordered an external dongle for both wireless and Bluetooth which hopefully will cover my needs.
